Welcome to the homepage of the Institute of Automatic Control (IRT) at the Leibniz University Hannover!

Research at the IRT focuses on the development of modern automatic control concepts and the application thereof in different areas. In particular, we consider optimization-based control and estimation, nonlinear systems and control theory as well as distributed and data-/learning-based control systems. The main application areas are biomedical engineering and robotics.

The institute offers various basic and advanced lectures in the field of control for different study programs of the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as well as Mechanical Engineering. We are always looking for talented and highly motivated students for our student projects and theses.
