The programming system PEARL RTOS-UH was designed for
the special requirements found in process automation and automatic control and is
based on the processor families MC 68xxx, MC 683xx as well as on the PowerPC.
RTOS-UH offers the same programming and real-time environment regardless
which hardware is used - from the smallest single board MC 68008
up to the high-end PowerPC 604 VME-bus system.
RTOS-UH is compactWhile in recent years the memory demand even for simple applications is constantly increasing, solutions with RTOS-UH still can be realized using small EPROMs. Our particular attention has always been applied to the employment of micro controllers.RTOS-UH is scalableApplications with RTOS-UH are found for small controller boards and up to complex VME-bus systems with several hundred thousand lines of source code. Projects with lots of hundreds of tasks are no rarity.Working with RTOS-UH is comprehensibleAs a result of the PEARL orientation of the operating system a transparent and precise architecture arose - optimal for process automation.Real-time performanceThe most demanding features of all real-time operating systems - input and output, networking - has lost in RTOS-UH all of its difficulties long time ago. In recent years other systems "re-invent" some of the first key features of our system. We are always exerted to keep the side effects of networking and multi windowing to the real-time performance as small as possible.Quality assuranceWe document and verify each modification of the system with largest diligence. All new versions have passed a long test phase by highly qualified test persons. Within the limits of quality assurance towards ISO 9000 we use the instruction ISO 9001-2 for software development as internal guideline.Keeping contactThrough the contact with our users we were able to eleminate all known bugs. Suggestions to improve the system are welcome and will be considered as far as this is possible at reasonable expenditure. The system does not show all features known from the PC or workstation world. We always prefer a structural sane inclusion of new features. To our opinion this effort benefits the user more than some rash solutions. |
